"I
wanted to do something that would create a lasting good."
Alice T. Coapland
Alice T. Coapland began her teaching career in 1939 and retired in
1982. Committed to excellence in teaching, she taught most French and Latin,
but also history, English, geography, and physchology. Her 43 year career included
teaching positions at Craftsbury Academy, Barton Academy, Newport High School
and North Country Union High School. Ms. Coapland established this scholarship
in 2002 and upon her death in 2004 bequeathed her estate to generously fund
the scholarship in her name. In doing so, Ms. Coapland left a legacy that will
enable VSAC to carry on her work in perpetuity to benefit female residents
of northeast Vermont with high financial need who wish to pursue a postsecondary
education. |
