What matters to you most?

The Vermont Scholarship Fund wants to help you establish a scholarship fund that is consistent with the goals you want to accomplish. In doing so, we ask you to consider several questions relating to the eligibility, selection, and criteria, including:

  • What types of students will be eligible to receive your scholarship(s): adult students returning to college, college students already enrolled, graduate students, graduating high school students, or all Vermont students?

  • Is there a particular county or region in Vermont whose students you’d like to help?

  • Would you like to limit your scholarship program to students seeking a particular degree or major? If yes, what subject(s)?

  • Do your scholarship recipients need to be enrolled full-time?

  • What attributes are important to you (academic achievement, minimum GPA; community involvement and/or service; education/work ethic; entrepreneurial skills, endeavors and/or achievements; financial need, etc.)? Can you rank these attributes in order of importance according to your values?

  • Do you want your scholarship to be for one year only, or do you want the student to receive the award for additional years?

Our scholarships department has prepared a VSAC Scholarship Description Form (PDF 190KB)to help you articulate the details of yoru scholarship. And of course, a member of our staff will gladly help you complete the form!

Yell"When the plant closed down, I wasn't sure what I was going to do with my life." -- Vell

"I didn't finish high school, though I did get my GED. I've had so many jobs. I've waited tables and worked in the retail business, holding all sorts of positions.

I'm not sure I would have gone to college if the plant hadn't closed down. But I knew when I was laid off that I needed a college degree if I was going to be given the chance to compete for jobs here in the Northeast Kingdom. I've finished my associate's degree in accounting and would like to go on for my bachelor's degree. In this marketplace, a college degree is essential."
